MISSION Psychiatric Survivors Network of Elgin is a
self-help, non-profit, peer-driven community organization. We act as a
resource providing experience and understanding, relative to the needs of our
peers. We encourage independent living, self-help and ongoing learning by
participation in life skills and vocational activities to promote self-esteem
and fulfillment. We encourage individualism while respecting other opinions
and privacy. Acceptance of individualism is important to build trust and
respect amongst our peers. VISION Psychiatric Survivors Network of Elgin envisions peers who are aware
of each individual member’s creative talents and positive abilities and
will utilize them to their maximum potential. We see a healthier community
through mental health awareness and education focused on the elimination of
stigma.
